Underlayment For Floors

QuietGround rubber underlayment has become our most popular product for isolating airborne noise and impact noise transfer in floors. Installation is easy over both concrete and wood sub-floors as well as versatile allowing installation of hardwood, tile, engineered wood, vinyl, and carpet directly over the QuietGround underlayment. The thickness of our underlayment was chosen based on what we would call the point of diminishing returns. In other words, 3 MM is not better than 2 MM, so we sell 2 MM. The same is true with 6 MM vs. 5 MM and 12 MM vs. 10 MM. You do not need the thicker more expensive products when the thinner cheaper versions rate just as well.

Dampen Your Floors

Green Glue Compound
Green Glue Compound compressed between a wood sub-floor and a new layer of sub-floor or other heavy material will reduce airborne noise and impact noise transfer. Our QuietGround products will isolate impact noise at a higher level and the thicker QuietGround products will isolate airborne noise better than the Green Glue Compound sandwich option. A Green Glue Compound sandwich is still a great option for floor isolation especially in carpet assemblies in which the carpet pad will isolate impact noise leaving the Green Glue Compound to deal with airborne noise transfer only.

Add Mass To Your Floors

2 LB TotalMass
Floors already weigh quite a bit so adding mass alone from a product like 1 LB TotalMass is not a significant improvement in isolation. The 2 LB TotalMass, however, does provide a nice solid 1/4" break between the sub-floor and finish floor. Impact isolation will not improve as significantly as it will with our thicker QuietGround products, but our customers that have used 2 LB TotalMass in their floors have returned with positive feedback for airborne isolation using the 2 LB material.
